Where did January go? Oh my goodness. We had some home improvement projects going on which pretty much consumed our weekends and nights for about 3 weeks – moving everything out of our first floor living space so the new floors could be put in, moving everything back. But, moving things ended up including purging/cleaning and reorganizing along the way. Whew. I’m tired just thinking about it again. I also moved to a Work at Home environment. I’m so blessed to be able to do what I love – now in my workout pants, in the comfort of my own home. While I DO get up and shower every morning, I don’t have to put on heels or makeup – and those are two good things, in my book. Juggling all of these changes has been a challenge – so my goal of weekly posts here on my blog is off to a slow start. But, life is settling back into a nice routine: so here I am.
Welcome to my first two weeks of Project Life. For those of you who stop by regularly: y’all know I subscribe to the Studio Calico Project Life kit – and I just LOVE it. I used the Blue Note and Copper Mountain kits here, plus a few cards I made my own.
I’m trying to simplify and unify a little more this year. It’s taking some getting used to. Not alot of embellishments. Really simple details. It’s going to be a learning curve, but I’m going to try if for the first few weeks and see how I do. Here are a few little details: I just love the transparent elements that came in the Blue Note kit. And the cork tags from the Jubilee project kit.
For the weekly cards…last year, I cut out Week 1, Week 2 in my handwriting and Century Gothic – with a border around it. Always in black. And it always went in the first slot – no matter what page protector I used. This year, I thought I’d try to be a little more flexible…so I made weekly cards that I can print and cut – or just cut…and use whatever paper I want. I can use the positive or negative cuts. I can add paper behind it (as I did here) – and stitch it.
Or, as you’ll see in week 2: I painted it, stamped it and added some sequins. And…don’t tell: but I put the card at the bottom of the page! I broke that “first slot” rule. Such a rebel, I know! Here’s week 2:
Here’s the weekly card: I cut out 02 and placed some paper from Jubliee behind the card, then lightly outlined the letters with my pencil before swiping a bit of pink neocolor across the bottom. Taking the stamp set from Jubliee, I added the triangles. I finished it up with some Mr. Huey’s, star sequins and a date stamp.
Finally – this little card was made using a cut file (you can find the freebie here). Again, I used my Neocolors, and then stitched the circle on the grey card.
